With the 2014 Met Gala all over the news, it’s difficult to resist reminiscing over the decadent outfits that have graced the prestigious event’s red carpet in previous years.
Every year the fashion set obsesses over what to wear to the gala and although many commentators love to rip apart the ‘worst dressed’, there are always some guests that get their look just right…
In 2011 Diane Kruger opted for a thigh-high split gown with embellished bodice by Jason Wu. The look was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sparkle and skin on show. The 2011 theme for the gala was ‘Savage Beauty’ and although Kruger kept her look more beautiful than savage, it was a memorable and glamorous ensemble.
Karolina Kurkova was the definition of luxury when she wore a glittering golden Rachel Zoe gown complete with a matching headpiece to the 2012 Met Gala. ‘Impossible Conversations’ was the theme of the night and we think the supermodel was impossibly stunning.
Camilla Belle’s exquisite 2007 Jean Paul Gaultier Couture gown is still perfectly stylish today. The theme was ‘Poiret: King of Fashion’ and the actress was certainly dressed fit for a Queen.
Whether you hated or loved Ashley Olsen’s 2011 take on the ‘Savage Beauty’ gala, it has to be said that it was memorable and purely haute couture. Olsen wore an extravagant monochrome Christian Dior gown, ebony heels by Christian Louboutin and Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. Luxe!
